Anyone can get support
Anyone, including visitors, who's experienced sexual violence in New Zealand can get support. If you're a New Zealand resident who experienced sexual violence overseas, we may also be able to help you.
You don't need to have reported the event to the Police to get our help and support.
Each support is different
Because the effects of sexual violence are personal, it's important that you get the support you need that's right for you.
Support from a therapist
All our therapists are experienced in giving you the right support, depending on your individual needs. They're qualified with a range of skills and can offer different types of support and treatment.
I am really concerned about my friend. Something isn't right. But I don't know how to help.
Family support sessions
Family and whānau support may help you achieve wellbeing and recovery in a holistic way.
Early education and support for family and whānau may include:
- educating them about the effects of sexual abuse
- strategies to deal with behavioural or emotional issues of the client
- coping strategies
- a chance for family and whānau to process what's happened.
The therapist will work with you to see what family and whānau support options are the right fit for you and your situation.
